New Year Resolution
2010 is just a few more days. By now, many of us are already evaluating what they have achieved against targets set beginning of this year. That would give them some ideas to make a new year resolution.
For me, a new year resolution is about one’s commitment in changing one’s habit or lifestyle. It’s about kicking bad habits and starting a new life. Some of the most common resolution people loved to make are quit smoking, reduce weight, get fit and quit drinking.
These are all very tough to achieve considering habits are routines that you have been doing all this while. Not many resolutions survive until year end. Statistic has shown that only about 46% of resolutions are maintained after six months.

Why resolutions are faded away as time goes by. Here, are some of the reasons which I think is valid.
1) No plan
Resolution is made because it’s becoming a trend to have one during year end. One commits to it without a proper plan. A complete plan on steps to achieve the desired goal at a targeted time frame must be in place.
2) Too ambitious
One needs to be realistic in setting one’s resolution. Instead of quit smoking, it’s probably better to start off with reduce smoking. Or instead of having two or three resolutions, it’s a lot easier to just have one instead.
3) Not Identifying one’s weakness
You got to realize the pattern of your drinking habit, for example, if your resolution is quit drinking. If you know that you drink a lot after office, than go straight to home instead of hanging out with friends.
4) Not confident enough
Have faith that you are capable of achieving it. Failure in the earlier stage does not mean you have to abandon your commitment.
